Exotic food, anyone?

May 6, 2007

Have you eaten exotic food like fried silkworms, crickets, cultured frogs or those that look like cockroaches? I saw these kinds of food always being displayed in Thailand. Last december while we were at the night market in Chiang Mai, my bro gave me one of those tiny worms (of course they're fried, not squirming anymore, hehehe).

My little niece insisted, “It’s potatoes!” I took one worm, stuffed it in my mouth, and tried to savor it while chewing….hmmm… it tasted like fried shrimps, juicy but not so meaty. ;)

How about you? What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten so far?

Hey carey,

A friend of mine in college who studied bio coerced me to eat some fried crickets for a fund raiser. They’re pretty tasty but I won’t be pining for them anytime soon! hehehe…

hmmm… I am not really a culinary adventurer so I haven’t really eaten anything weird perse. I dunno if I do well if ever I am in one of those Fear Factor eat-something-gruesome scenarios. :)

a friend told me Fear Factor challengers can eat ANYTHING except durian. Is this true?

Tried fried crickets before, crunchy! Don’t look now but these little crawlies might one day save humanity from starvation…
