I’ve been wearing contacts since my first year in college and had been changing lenses as my eyes’ vision changes with time. My contact lenses are the gas permeable type, and I haven’t really tried using soft lens. Lately though, I’m thinking of switching to soft contact lens for a lot of reasons. One is the many types of soft contact lenses available, thus giving more flexibility to the wearer. For instance, there are lenses for daily wear, continuous wear or extended wear, and even disposable soft lenses instead of planned replacement lenses.
Soft contact lenses are made of many different materials such as hydrogel and silicone hydrogel. One can also choose from spherical, toric, multifocal and even multifocal/toric types of lenses. I just had my contact lenses changed, but I am really thinking of going for the soft contact lens type on my next check up and lens replacement.
I could say that my contact lenses are my secret companions, helping me focus clearly on the task at hand and when seeing objects at far distances. I’m thankful that with my contacts, I need not wear bulky eyeglasses which I really find uncomfortable. Yup, I’d rather go through the daily routine of soaking, disinfecting, or rinsing my lens at the start of my day than having to put up with wearing glasses all day.
