Looking your best can be tedious and time-consuming. This is just based on my personal experience though, and I truly admire those ladies who can skilfully put on makeup in just five minutes or so. I am no expert when it comes to putting eye shadow, and especially curling the lashes and putting on mascara. Thus, on special occasions that needed me to get dressed up, I just rely on a professional to fix my hair and makeup.

I have accumulated a lot of documents, videos, songs, photos and all sorts of files on my computer over the past years, but I have not even accessed most of them these days. I only deal with a few documents which I needed to finish some tasks. I’ve been planning to organize and sort them all neatly in folders in my hard disk, but I just hadn’t got time for it yet. I just hope my hard drive won’t crash or do anything bad coz I haven’t got a backup of these files yet.

The weather is perfectly fine here, don’t worry. *wink* The title has nothing to do about the weather though. I’m just amused at how another common word has found its way into computer jargon. Just like the mouse, which we associate with the movie Ratatouille, now it is that thing we use to click and drag whatever icon or character we see on the computer screen. Now there’s the cloud, and in techie terms it is not what you see floating in the sky. For computer geeks, the cloud is a virtual storage in the Internet where you can upload your files and keep a backup of them securely.

Recently I renewed one of my registered domains. Although I have not built a website around it yet, I decided to keep it because it’s a good combination of keywords. It’s just waiting for me to tinker with it for who knows when. Maintaining more than one website can be tough and needs some focus, so I am hoping it would be sooner. I am quite excited for it actually. Sigh. I just need time for it and the difficult part is to begin.
Another important task after building the site is to do a bit of search engine optimization or SEO. This is important for websites, to give them the highest rankings in search engine results, thus giving them organic traffic from various sources without them having to pay for online advertising. One of the companies I’ve been doing online business with, recently sent me a notice about some payment transfer charges. Thankfully, some issues were settled. I know this company is doing good business with many other website administrators and I’m sure they already have a solid structure in place for their mass payment system.
Big companies dealing with a large online workforce should have their payment systems designed to meet the demands of time and resources. Otherwise, not being able to meet payment due dates or the agreed compensation can demoralize the workforce and give them the idea to look elsewhere or worse, say bad things about the company which could discourage future business partners.

What would you do if you accidentally just deleted ALL copies of the photos you took of your little girl’s birthday? I bet you would go crazy, right? This happened to my bro-in-law, he mistakenly formatted the memory disk of his digital camera and into oblivion went those precious birthday photos of my niece’s birthday celebration in McDonald’s. Nope, he didn’t go crazy, just miserable. Lol.
Thankfully, even if such accidents happen to our precious and valuable data, there are tools that actually can recover them! Ugh, we should have known about this before. (more…)
One of the big malls here has recently added a new building wing at its rear section. What used to be parking spaces are now turned into more commercial areas. We had dinner at one of the newly opened restaurants there and, as expected, the new wing was filled with shoppers especially since it was during the holidays. Most of the spaces surrounding the fountain area were dining establishments. I noticed that some units are still vacant, waiting for retail tenants. I bet these available units would be great location for specialty shops, boutiques and computer stores.
Business is doing well for this mall. I commend the management for being aggressive in literally expanding their business. This marketing move immediately attracted more local shoppers to drop by, considering there’s a bigger mall in the city center. (more…)
My dad is a big fan of newspapers. Aside from indulging himself with the latest news, he loves solving the daily crossword puzzle that’s usually included in the entertainment section. He can drive us around and wait for us in the van while we do some errands as long as he has some newspaper to while away the time. He’d be so focused on reading or solving puzzles that sometimes we had to tell him it’s time to go.

I am usually sending files via emails and sometimes the recipient can’t open the file on his computer. It’s either his software is not updated to the latest version which I sent my file or he does not have the program installed. Thankfully, the PDF format takes care of this, as one can easily download a free pdf viewer from the internet. It is also a document format that’s virus free.

One of the busiest months that took away most of my work hours was last December when we brought along our van and went on a road trip and traveled between two islands via inter-island vessel or barge. It’s just too sad that we were not able to tour more because our van broke down and behaved badly. Huhuhu. Now that we’re back home and had it fixed, I can only feel a hint of regret that we were not able to maximize our road trip in another island.
Road trips are fun especially when your vehicle is cooperating well. In our case, we had our van well-prepared before the trip but it gave in to the stress of cruising along high sloping roads when we passed by the mountains of Don Salvador Benedicto municipality.

Who doesn’t? My chinky eyes would instantly pop out seeing big flashy signs on the store shelves labeled “SALE” or “DISCOUNT” or “Buy 1 Take 1” offers. And as much as I try to veer away from these “evil” signs, they have already worked on my subconscious, tempting me to buy them on my next visit. Heh. But there are freebies that I do love, things that were given freely and surprisingly as a gift. Some nice shops and stores give away freebies during holidays, or when they celebrate special events.

Last December, we had an instant trip to Cebu to attend my nephew’s wedding. We were quite unprepared, did some last minute important delegation of tasks, especially requesting a couple to sleep at our house and watch it for us while we were away. Thank God, the wedding, and our trip, was a success. And it was a happy family affair indeed.
Some couples dream and plan for the best wedding venue and even the wedding theme. Beach weddings have always been the popular choice for those who would like their special day to be different. Planning for such weddings may seem difficult, but there are beach hotels and resorts that specialize in this. (more…)
February is not just the month for love and romance. Since 1976, February has been designated as Black History Month in the U.S. to celebrate and focus on Afro-American life, culture and history. Other countries, such as Canada and the UK, also have such celebration in a designated month for black history.

Obtaining prescription drugs might not be as difficult as most would think. Such drugs can be obtained without seeing a doctor or having him write a prescription. Aside from the proliferation of illegal online pharmacies nowadays, one can readily obtain it from the pillboxes and medicine bottles of friends and family members who are using it for their medical condition. Some doctors also overprescribe. I remember when my mom was hospitalized due to hyponatremia; she was loaded with all sorts, and colors, of tablets including depressants! Thank God she didn’t need more than what was prescribed, so I had to throw away the extra pills which could have ended up in somebody’s hands.
Here’s an infographic showing some interesting facts and figures related to prescription drug abuse in America.
