I am usually sending files via emails and sometimes the recipient can’t open the file on his computer. It’s either his software is not updated to the latest version which I sent my file or he does not have the program installed. Thankfully, the PDF format takes care of this, as one can easily download a free pdf viewer from the internet. It is also a document format that’s virus free.

One of the busiest months that took away most of my work hours was last December when we brought along our van and went on a road trip and traveled between two islands via inter-island vessel or barge. It’s just too sad that we were not able to tour more because our van broke down and behaved badly. Huhuhu. Now that we’re back home and had it fixed, I can only feel a hint of regret that we were not able to maximize our road trip in another island.
Road trips are fun especially when your vehicle is cooperating well. In our case, we had our van well-prepared before the trip but it gave in to the stress of cruising along high sloping roads when we passed by the mountains of Don Salvador Benedicto municipality.

Who doesn’t? My chinky eyes would instantly pop out seeing big flashy signs on the store shelves labeled “SALE” or “DISCOUNT” or “Buy 1 Take 1” offers. And as much as I try to veer away from these “evil” signs, they have already worked on my subconscious, tempting me to buy them on my next visit. Heh. But there are freebies that I do love, things that were given freely and surprisingly as a gift. Some nice shops and stores give away freebies during holidays, or when they celebrate special events.

Last December, we had an instant trip to Cebu to attend my nephew’s wedding. We were quite unprepared, did some last minute important delegation of tasks, especially requesting a couple to sleep at our house and watch it for us while we were away. Thank God, the wedding, and our trip, was a success. And it was a happy family affair indeed.
Some couples dream and plan for the best wedding venue and even the wedding theme. Beach weddings have always been the popular choice for those who would like their special day to be different. Planning for such weddings may seem difficult, but there are beach hotels and resorts that specialize in this. (more…)
February is not just the month for love and romance. Since 1976, February has been designated as Black History Month in the U.S. to celebrate and focus on Afro-American life, culture and history. Other countries, such as Canada and the UK, also have such celebration in a designated month for black history.

Obtaining prescription drugs might not be as difficult as most would think. Such drugs can be obtained without seeing a doctor or having him write a prescription. Aside from the proliferation of illegal online pharmacies nowadays, one can readily obtain it from the pillboxes and medicine bottles of friends and family members who are using it for their medical condition. Some doctors also overprescribe. I remember when my mom was hospitalized due to hyponatremia; she was loaded with all sorts, and colors, of tablets including depressants! Thank God she didn’t need more than what was prescribed, so I had to throw away the extra pills which could have ended up in somebody’s hands.

What a busy holiday season it is! Last week had been hectic particularly on the 24th and 25th. We’re glad to have my uncle and auntie with my cousin here at home for the Christmas celebration. It was just a simple gathering, spruced up with busy cooking sessions and last-minute gift wrapping activity! Now that the week days are here, it’s back to a bit of reality, which means we have to pay some bills, go to the bank, drop by at the grocery and do some other errands.
Another part of reality is checking my websites. I just had a chat with bro and we were discussing about his webhosting on one of his sites. I forgot the login details but thank God I knew where to find it. This reminds me about another pending task for me concerning webhosting. I need to set up a site for a domain I bought many years back. This is long overdue and I really should prioritize this in my To Do List.

Few more days to go before Christmas and I’m supposed to be busy wrapping gifts, but Scarlet came with her cousins and since yesterday I had to postpone my piled up tasks and give myself a break… that means, I’m just resting. In case you don’t know Scarlet, she is not even a person, LOL. Read about it here, if you’re curious. 
I’ve been so busy since last month, catching up with family affairs here and there - hosting a family visit (for Dad K and his friends from Europe), attending the wedding of my nephew in Cebu, being a godmother (for the nth time! 
) in baptism to my cousin’s cute baby girl, and celebrating the wedding anniversary of my dear Dad and Mom. Whew, it was such a whirlwind of events in between Christmas parties and community fiesta, and I do apologize for not updating this blog lately.

The shocking news about the flood in Thailand kept us busy the past week especially since my bro and his wife is based in an academic institution there. It caused a lot of worrying in our family, we glued ourselves to updates via email, Facebook, Skype and Yahoo Messenger, even big sis in Finland kept calling my bro about their safety. We are just thankful now that my bro and his wife are safe, though displaced from their flooded campus. They are currently advised to move to higher grounds, to stay temporarily in flood-free provinces. We still continue to monitor their situation, though with less worry this time, relieved that the critical hours of their evacuation was already over.
Now it’s almost a week after that fateful night when the flood waters came in their campus and they were forced to evacuate. It’s just sad to think about how much of the flood waters caused damage to the vital facilities and equipment of the school. Imagine about 1 to 3 meters high flood reaching the buildings and houses in the campus. I’m sure millions worth of technical and office equipment, residential appliances, employee/student properties and other important items were damaged due to the flood.

I’m thankful that both my parents, now past their 60s, are still physically active. Dad continues to be our “family driver” and busies himself with his favorite hobbies at home, such as gardening, carpentry, tinkering with the van and especially playing his favorite tunes on the keyboards. Mom is super-active in our prayer community, right now she is miles away from us, attending an anniversary event for one of our provincial chapters.
For the elderly parents who are already weak or sickly, it is a pain for their children and relatives to see them suffering. I’m sure most family members particularly the children would do anything they can to provide for their parents’ comfort and medical needs, from blood pressure monitors and other medical gadgets to purchasing their maintenance medicines.

Before a holiday road trip, it is important to evaluate your vehicle and be prepared with the trip essentials. You just can’t risk your vacation being ruined with some car breakdown, right? Change the oil and check if the fluid levels are normal, i.e. transmission fluids, wind shield wiper fluids and brake fluids. Don’t postpone any repair work if needed and thoroughly check vehicle parts for signs of wear and tear. If some parts are needed to be replaced, then do so by all means. You wouldn’t want them to malfunction while you’re already on the road.

We have some European guests coming…
…Four of them to be exact. And I am already counting the days until their arrival. Whew! I am trying not to be stressed with the preparations, from their resort booking to their tour itinerary and car rental services. About two days ago, I talked to the car rental owner about their rates and I am glad I got some good tips about interesting provincial attractions where we could possibly tour our guests.
With the upcoming holidays, most families would be doing a lot of visiting and touring. Thus, a car rental service would be much needed for such activities. Depending on the clients’ needs, car rental providers always strive to give their best, and even more than just the vehicle and driver, some are even great tourist guides.

To be in business is a courageous move, but for those who fear to do it, they are reminded of the saying, “No guts, no glory”. Also we can add, “No sacrifice, no success.” Bankruptcy is always a possibility, especially for the negative thinker, and he makes it a reason so as not to proceed with any project. He does not consider the fact that if one doesn’t risk, he will never achieve anything, and he will just loaf in a mediocre life. Always calculated, always safe, no adventure, nothing exciting. For those who are brave enough to venture, even if there’s the possibility of being a failure, they don’t shirk from starting a project as they know there are bankruptcy solutions that will help them get out of any situation.

To be in a cruise – in a real luxury cruise I mean - is still a dream for me. I have had one experience of a cruise but it was just for one day along the Chao Praya River in Thailand. I could have gone on a cruise along the Vltava River in Prague as well, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to. My cruise dream was almost fulfilled during our family vacation in Finland, when we were to cross from Turku to Sweden, taking a cruise ship, but this did not push through for some reasons.

When we renovated our house, my sister and I made it a joint project, being both in the architectural field. Aside from aesthetics, some important criteria we considered were the function and the saving of space. The durability and quality of the materials of equipments and furnishings were also some of our concerns. We came up with a small but well-designed kitchen added, aside from having a make-over of our second floor bathroom and in the lower floor, with elevated area from the ground where our two rooms are, the master’s bathroom and my own one were also renovated.

For upcoming special events such as weddings and other social functions, it’s really important to look your best especially if you have an important role in that affair. Some ladies are experts when it comes to makeup application and having their hair done. But for those who are not confident about the basics of putting on eyeshadow or mascara, it is best to go to a beauty salon instead. Ask around from your friends for recommendations where to have your hair and makeup done and have an appointment with them. You will be thankful for sporting a great look for that special event!

I’m longing for a vacation break these days. It would be nice to go to a place where I can experience all the sights and sounds of nature, and one destination readily excites my imagination, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Just browsing over the beautiful Yellowstone photos on Flickr photo sharing site sets me on a dream travel mode experiencing one of those exciting Yellowstone vacation packages. How I wish I can just easily transport myself to such a place of diverse natural ambiance, from hot steaming geysers to calm lakes, majestic mountain sceneries and diverse wildlife.
